Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford is a Tony Award winner actor has worked with many well-known directors and actors for stage productions and on television. She continues this award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. As it is a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which produced Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over a century. She starred in two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Also, she has been on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
